Fundraising -breakfast blood donation drive in 18 Massaza of Buganda Kingdom.

The Kabaka Foundation, in collaboration with the Uganda Red Cross Society and Uganda Blood Transfusion Services, organized a fundraising breakfast meeting on November 8th, 2023, at Bulange Mengo, the headquarters of the Buganda Kingdom. The organizers appealed to development partners, private entities, and individuals to contribute to the second blood donation drive. This campaign will initially focus on four counties that were missed during the first blood donation drives, before expanding to other counties within the Buganda Kingdom. Over the course of three years (2024-2026), the second blood donation drive aims to recruit 250,000 new blood donors.

During the launch, His Majesty’s message was delivered by Buganda’s Minister for Education, Health, Social Services, and the Office of the Nabagereka. In his message, His Majesty expressed appreciation to the Uganda Red Cross Society and Uganda Blood Transfusion Services for partnering with the Kabaka Foundation to address blood shortages in the country. He emphasized the importance of collective efforts between Buganda Kingdom and the central government to ensure the availability of blood in all healthcare facilities nationwide.

The Kabaka encouraged people to participate in blood donation to save lives, particularly of mothers, accident victims, sickle cell patients, cancer patients, and others in need. He thanked all organizations for their support and encouraged additional entities to join the campaign against blood shortages. The launch of the second blood donation drive was attended by dignitaries from the Buganda Kingdom, the central government, and development partners.

His Majesty, extended his appreciation to the Uganda Red Cross Society and Uganda Blood Transfusion Services for partnering with Kabaka Foundation to fight blood shortages in our country.

As Buganda Kingdom through the Kabaka Foundation, we decided to combine our efforts with the Central government to ensure availability of blood in all heath care facilities across our country.

We encourage our people to engage in blood donation such that we are able to save the mothers, who die every day while giving birth, accident victims, sickle cells, cancer patients among other.

We thank all organizations that have joined us to render their support.

We also encourage other organisations to join the campaign to fight blood Shortages in our country.
